Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
Recycling, waste management and environmental education are all combated through the following programs:
- Soft drink cans are used to make art! Any extra cans are donated to the local community.
- The hostel has its own vegatable garden.
- The hostel is fixing an old school in the South of Albania, so those children can go to school in their own village. This means they won't have to walk for 2 hours every day to get school, which is discouraging education. In the summer holiday the school will be used as a hostel. The children are welcome to stay over the summer (when the school is used as hostel) to practice and learn English. The hostel owners cleaned the environment around the school; re-making the garden with help of the villagers.
